My top 10 favourite movies.

Hello there,

Fun blog post, 10 movies I absolutely love, we all need a movie under blankets with popcorn and hot chocolate at this time of year, right? with the kiddies or ones just for the grown ups, here is my list of favourites, not in any preference as I could never pick which ones I love the most.

1. Leon
This is one of my all time favourite films, it's about Leon who is a professional assassin, he takes in a young 12yr old girl called Mathilda after her parents were killed, she then becomes his protegee. This movie is action packed as well as having a warm loving feel to it, in a bizarre relationship, bonding with an assassin kinda way, I love it.

2. Pretty woman
This movie I could watch so many times (I have, and much, much more) and never be fed up with it, this film just shows you not to judge a book by its cover. It's about a prostitute who is asked to stay with a man while he is living in a Posh Hotel on business and pays her to be his escort, but they just so happen to fall in love, its funny and a feel good movie.

3. Mary Poppins
I may be 32 but this is still one of my favourite movies and always has been since I first saw it when I was little, it's full of magic and imagination, its songs bring me happy Childhood memories and I am sure if Mary used her ruler to check me out, I am most certain that it would say "practically perfect in every way" Ok... well Almost perfect in every way (ha) Mary Poppins is a magical Nanny who comes to look after Jane and Michael... well really its to fix the family, they go on magical adventures, its a funny and charming movie. Mary Poppins comes across so strict but she is so much fun. Based on the books Mary Poppins by P.L Travers.

4. Saving Mr Banks
Following on from Mary Poppins, this film is actually about Walt Disney finally getting the author of the Mary Poppins book series  P.L Travers to agree to making a movie out of her books, he has been asking for many, many years and she finally agrees (under her complete control over it all) and this movie is all about the journey of making Mary Poppins movie and about P.L Travers and her Childhood, her book series Mary Poppins and other aspects of her life. It is funny, frustrating and rather sad in places , I laughed lots, and I cried plenty.

5. Dirty Dancing.
Ok, so I know many people are completely sick of this movie, but I am not, I am 32 so I guess its the first movie full of sexual chemistry that I had seen (I was 11 the first time I saw it but I didn't get it then, the sweetness and innocence firmly intact back then)  but this movie is pure comfort when its cold outside and in need of a warm snuggle under a big fluffy throw, its full of sexual tension yet romantic and warm. I love all of the songs and even own the soundtrack (if only I could find it, I would listen to it now. wait we have YouTube!! hurrah) Dirty dancing is about a 17 year old woman who gets called Baby by her family but her actual name is Francis, she is on holiday at a resort with her family, they are regulars and well known to the resort, she meets a man who is a dancer (and not very popular amongst the snobs) and even though there is many issues they've had to face and her Dad warning him to stay clear of his Daughter, they finally ignore it all and get together. its perhaps a very cheesy movie but I love it.

6. Alice in wonderland
The original Disney animation version although I do love the Tim Burton version, it has to be this one for me, I always had such a wild, vivid and crazy imagination as a Child so its really no wonder at all that Mary Poppins and Alice and wonderland are in my top 10 favourite movies. This is a crazy, magical, completely bonkers but wonderful movie, it reminds me of being cuddled up with my Dad and in a really happy childhood bliss, (Miss those days, miss my Dad more, he passed away 17months ago) its about a little girl Alice who daydreams often only this time its so real and vivid so surely its real? who knows, she sees a little white rabbit who is running rather late for something as he is fretting and hurrying along, she follows him and falls down a rabbit hole and then the most crazy bizarre and magical things start to happen which then become her adventure in wonderland, from a drink that makes you small to mushrooms that make you tall, from an old rabbit running late to a mad hatters crazy tea party or to painting roses red. Its totally bonkers. Based on the book Alice adventures in wonderland by Lewis Carroll,  I am sure the Author was high on something when this was written.

7. The lost boys
Got to have some Vampires in this list, and this is by far the best vampire film ever, for me anyway. I love series and movies with vampires, although never the sparkling kind, this movie has been a firm favourite since I first saw it when I was about 14 years old. Its about two brothers who move towns, only to find out its full of vampires. The young brother meets new friends who tell him they are vampire hunters, the older brother meets a girl who ends up taking him along to meet a gang of bikers things slowly start to become clearer about their town, but is it too late for the brothers?  Oooooh watch it, find out, I am sure you will love it. (Ha)

8. Love actually
A very British romantic comedy, this makes me feel so cosy and especially for the christmas season, but I could watch this any time of the year, its sweet and endearing, its funny and its cheesy. This is set around Christmas, its about 8 different couples and following their very frantic love lives running up to Christmas, such a cheesy film, but its heart warming with a lot of funny twists and turns to it.

9. Jack and Sarah
This movie makes me cry every time I watch it, heartbreaking but has a very happy ending, got to love a happy ending eh? its is about a man, Jack and his wife Sarah who have a baby but sadly the wife dies and he is left holding the baby, he doesn't do too well he is so grief ridden and his family have to make some tough decisions to try and sort out this broken man (Jack) this film makes you feel so many emotions, I absolutely adore this movie. Another very British movie. If you have never seen it, give it a watch, if you love British movies I am sure you will love this. let me know what you thought about it.

10. Beauty and the Beast
This again is the original not the remake, this movie taught me that beauty comes from within and not to judge someone in appearance, which taught me well for adult life and meeting my Childrens Dad, he is a Beast, not a hideous beast but he's big and has a tough look about him, a grumpy, don't want to mess with him look about him. I think he was a grizzly bear in his past life. He is warm, soft as anything and his girls can wrap their little finger around him with the flutters of eyelashes and twinkling of eyes and he melts into the palm of their hands... well not quite, but you get my drift. Perhaps I am Beauty? Well not as beautiful but certainly not your average woman, I am different and never really fitted in with the popular groups, but I was never a loner and I think our group of friends had a lot more fun than the popular girls ever had, they spent more time worrying about being popular than having fun. Anyway... back to the movie, its about Belle a bookworm who becomes a prisoner of the Beast in a castle that has been cursed, the Beast is not all he seems and nor is the castle or the things within it. It's a film of magic and wonder, it's warm and romantic. It's got adventure, action, and romance. Its filled with classic disney style songs. It's also my Daughters favourite too.

What's your top 10 favourite movies? Any of yours on my list or any you think should be in mine? Let me know.

Thanks for reading.

Ta ta for now

Blogtober #4

Giving birth to a huge baby. Day 4 of  Blogtober I thought in today's post I would write about the birth of my youngest child (now 10 years old) Isabella, she was a hefty weight, not at all your average baby weight, although I have heard of much bigger babies being born (my eyes sting at that thought) so here is my story of how my beautiful little girl entered the world. Before I begin, I would like to say that I kept telling midwives I was carrying an elephant inside me, they would say she is only going to be about 1 lb bigger than my older two children's birth weights (8lb 6oz & 8lb 7oz) I had SPD (where the ligaments over stretch in the pelvis, causing a lot of pain) I was depressed as I could hardly do anything, the pain was immense, I used to cry whenever I needed to get up out of my bed to go to the loo, (which was often, babies like using our bladder as a trampoline) I would literally crawl to the bathroom, the midwives just said they couldn't

Blogtober fail!

I failed! I am so very sorry, I have completely failed at blogtober, I was so determined to do it, but so not prepared, I had technology issues and Wi-Fi (changed provider) being down, and thinking I can easily write a post each day, add in a college course and a family & home to take care of, I failed, and I am so very sorry to all of you for that, next year I shall be prepared, I shall be organised as I have learned so much from other bloggers and from myself so next time I shall have most of it written and ready to go, instead of writing on the day. Makes sense really doesn't it? I haven't been blogging long and it really shows with this, although this is how you learn to do things, from mistakes and advice. I just want to say a big thank you for your kind messages checking if I am ok, for your patience and understanding over me not uploading new blogtober posts, big thank you for reading my previous posts and I will be posting more posts just not daily at t

Blogtober #9

10 favourite songs. Blogtober day nine, I saw a pin on Pinterest for blogtober ideas and this was one of the ideas, so I thought I would do this for today as I am struggling with ideas as this is my first time doing blogtober and unlike the wise bloggers, I have not prepared for my blog posts, I've not written them all up and set  them up to be posted at certain times, no that would be really sensible, that would make things easier and I obviously am not happy with the 31 day blogging challenge, I want to add the extra pressure of writing each post on the day as well as having a college course to do and Children to look after, and all the jobs that come with it (what a fool) but I will not give up, but as today has been such a busy, busy day I am doing one of my favourite songs as it's nice & easy plus it's a fun post to do, I shall also be listening to each song after  (good way to unwind) If you're looking for modern songs, I wouldn't carry on reading
